Cougar News: September 2017

Dear Collegewood Families,

We have a lot going on at school during the next few weeks and I wanted to remind you of some important information and dates.

Drop Off and Pick Up:  Please keep in mind that you cannot leave your car unattended along any of the white curbs in front of our school.  If you choose to leave your car, it is likely that you will receive a ticket from the Walnut Sheriff who patrols the parking lot and surrounding streets.  This includes parents who come for TK and kindergarten pick up.  A special thank you to those of you who are honoring our policy for drop off and pick up.  There is no student drop off or pick up in the staff lot.  Please use crosswalks in the staff lot and surrounding streets to keep our kids and parents safe.

Volunteer Training:  We will hold an additional volunteer training for anyone who was unable to attend the first training.  This training will be Friday, September 15th at 9 AM.  If you plan to volunteer on field trips, in the classroom at all, you will need to attend a training. Please provide medical verification that you have a negative TB test.

Shirt Orders:  All Collegewood shirts have been ordered.  We expect them to arrive within 10 days and our amazing volunteers will get them distributed as soon as possible.  Thank you so much for your patience and support.

Cougar Booster Drive:  We have raised over $7,000.  Thank you so much to those of you who have already made contributions.  You can continue to send in donations this week to help us fund additional assemblies for students in all grades, materials for Project Lead the Way and other school events. A large portion of this money is returned to the classrooms to help with needed supplies and keep the cost of field trips down.  We are grateful for your support and participation in this event.

Lunches:   Please remember that we will not deliver any school lunches brought to the office after 10 AM so that we can respect the instructional time of our students and keep them focused on learning as much as possible without interrupting the classroom with phone calls.

Photo ID Required:  A photo ID is required anytime a child is signed out to leave campus during the instructional day and for late pick-ups. We need to be able to verify who is taking the child home.  No matter how often you come to campus, please be prepared to show a photo ID if you are signing your child out.  We appreciate your cooperation as we work to ensure our students' safety.

Picture Day:  Picture Day will be Monday, September 11th
